TransEurope Slow: Biking Europe from home.

MediaLab Prado's new interactive installation, TransEurope Slow, explores where bikes slow down the normal pace of urban exploration and allow hidden, distant areas of the city to become visible and accessible. The project is interested in negotiating modern cities and finding places that tell contemporary stories which move beyond tourist attractions, stereotypes, city brands and common places in the uniform city centre. The best mean of transport for that is, undoubtedly, the bicycle.

This installation is controlled by the user using peddals. While "cycling", video information sycnhronizes with a website server that allows to read information about the area of the city that the user is touring. It creates the feeling of being biking around.
