Madrid Audiovisual Cluster is a nonprofit business association declared Innovative Business Association (AEI) of Excellence by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism in Spain. Madrid Audiovisual Cluster is a triple helix cluster involving local authorities (Communidad de Madrid), research partners (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad Politecninca de Madrid and enterprises (36 SMEs).
Madrid ICT & Audiovisual Cluster aims to:
  • Boost the innovation and competitiveness of its members, promoting the generation, retention and sharing of talent and knowledge.
  • Promote business models that encourage the search for new audiovisual technologies and content.
  • Contribute to the development of R & D in all fields related to the audiovisual and ICT sectors.
All its activity is based on collaboration between industry players (companies, universities, government and R&D centres) to generate added value and in the belief that we live in an increasingly visual world. 

People in the Smartculture project

  • Fernando de Garcillán 
    Managing Director of the Madrid ICT-Audiovisual Cluster, is responsible for the development of the cluster as an innovation centre of the ICT and audiovisual industries and promoter and coordinator of R&D. Before that he held various positions within the audiovisual sector. Fernando de Garcillán has an MBA from the Instituto de Empresa and a degree in law, and among other activities has been Patron of the Media Spain Foundation (2004-05), President of the Association of Independent Producers (API) from 2002 to 2004, member of the Board at FAPAE (Federation of Spanish Audiovisual Production) between 2001 and 2006. On the other hand Fernando de Garcillán has an extensive resume as Executive Producer or Associate Producer on more than 50 films and TV programs.
  • Veronica Buey
    joined the Audiovisual Cluster in October 2008 as Deputy Cluster Manager to develop support work in cluster management and marketing activities, communications, and European projects. With a Degree in Administration and Management and a Master's Degree in Cultural Management from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, she has had various positions of responsibility within the consulting industry (PricewaterhouseCoopers and KPMG), banking (UBS Private Bank) and the audiovisual sector in the areas of marketing and communication, international relations and business development.
